The name "Pit Love BBQ" has its roots in the camaraderie and support found within the Marine Corps. In military slang, "pit love" refers to the practice of helping fellow shooters on the annual rifle range with some extra “support”. This spirit of tribalism and generosity perfectly encapsulates our mission at Pit Love BBQ. We believe in fostering community and connection through the shared experience of great food. Just as Marines lift each other up, we strive to be good dudes who extend grace and support to our customers and their gatherings. Every barbecue we cater is infused with this ethos, creating not just delicious meals but also core memories filled with warmth and togetherness.
After Nate came home from his first deployment to Iraq, the Covid Era hit and the whole world seemed come to a pause. Needing an outlet to obsess over, Nate purchased his first offset smoker and reconnected with his old roots of Texas Style Barbecue. He was hooked.
Constantly multitasking, Nate subjected his teammates to the slow learning curve of perfecting barbecue during long training trips. Stowing his smoker away in any available mission essential space for everyone's mutual benefit of not living off MRE's and fast food.
Getting countless reps in by cooking for 50 plus people at a time, Nate started to envision one day establishing a well-known and successful business. While hanging around watching a fire, a teammate spontaneously brainstormed the brand name we were working toward for weeks... and thus, Pit Love BBQ was born.
Returning from his last deployment to Iraq, Nate was on a mission to establish Pit Love BBQ in an official capacity. After many long planning sessions with his wife Jenny and his mentors, Nate found the perfect starter trailer (loads of TLC needed) and began the long fabrication process of building a custom offset smoker trailer large enough to scale.
February 2025, Pit Love BBQ was permitted in Onslow County, NC and officially scheduled for business. We're very excited to see where this journey going to continue to. Thank y’all for the support thus far!
